Community
At Birmingham Panthers, community isn't an add-on. It's part of who we are.
We believe a professional sports club should do more than compete on court. It should create opportunities, bring people together and play a meaningful role in the place it represents.
That's why we're committed to growing netball across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, strengthening grassroots participation, creating opportunities for young people and making sure more people can see themselves in our sport.
We want Panthers to be a club that Birmingham can be proud of.
What we do
Our community programme brings Panthers closer to the people and places that make our region what it is.
Growing the game
We work with schools, clubs and community organisations to introduce more people to netball and help those already playing to develop.
From grassroots sessions and school partnerships to camps, coaching and player-led activity, we want to create more opportunities to play, learn and fall in love with the game.
We believe what is good for local netball is good for the whole sport, and ultimately good for Panthers.
Creating opportunities
We want talented young people to have the opportunity to reach their potential, wherever they come from and whatever their route into the sport.
Our pathway, community programmes and partnerships help create connections between grassroots netball and the elite game, while giving young players access to role models who are close to home.
Bringing people together
Sport has the power to connect people who might not otherwise meet.
We take Panthers into communities through events, festivals, tournaments, coaching sessions and other activities designed to be welcoming, energetic and fun.
We don't just expect people to come to us. We want to show up where our communities are.
Making the game more accessible
We know that participation is not simply about whether an opportunity exists. Cost, confidence, location, representation and accessibility can all be barriers.
Our approach is about understanding those barriers and working with communities to find ways to remove them.
That means meeting people where they are, working with local organisations and creating opportunities that reflect the needs of different communities.
What Sets Us Apart
A club for everyone
Birmingham is one of the UK's most diverse and dynamic cities, and Panthers should reflect that.
We want everyone to feel that there is a place for them at Panthers, whether they are a player, coach, volunteer, supporter or simply someone discovering netball for the first time.
That means creating opportunities across different ages, backgrounds and abilities, while making representation and inclusion part of how we operate.
Our players are an important part of this. They are elite athletes, but they are also role models. Their different journeys into professional sport can show young people what is possible when talent, ambition and opportunity come together.
Our impact
We believe community impact should be about more than good intentions.
We track our activity, participation and reach so we can understand what is working, where there are gaps and where we can do more.
But numbers only tell part of the story.
Success is also about a child discovering a sport they love, a young player seeing a pathway they didn't know existed, a grassroots club feeling supported, or a community coming together around something positive.
In 2025 and early 2026, our community, school and grassroots programmes engaged more than 2,400 participants, alongside thousands more people reached through public community events.
Working with us
We don't believe in designing programmes for communities without listening to them.
We work with schools, clubs, community organisations and local partners to understand what people need and where Panthers can make the biggest difference.
Our partnerships with organisations including the Pakistan Netball Academy and Gateley Gateway to Netball are examples of how we are working to widen access, create new pathways and remove barriers to participation.
We are always open to new ideas, new partnerships and new ways of bringing people into the Panthers community.
Get Involved
Whether you're a school looking to work with us, a grassroots club wanting to explore a partnership, a community organisation with an idea, or simply someone who wants to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
Together, we can grow the game, create opportunities and make a difference across our region.
